    Finally found one of these out in the open for a few fleeting seconds. Image captured at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Nikon D500
    Nikon 500mm PF, camera and lens supported by a Oben carbon fiber monopod with a Wimberly MonoGimbal head
    1/1600 F/8 Matrix Metering EV 0 ISO 2200 Auto 1 WB, image captured at 700mm (1050mm 35mm Equivalent)
    Post processed using Lightroom Classic, and Topaz Photo AI
    Cropped slightly for composition and presentation to eliminat a couple unwanted items

    One of my favorite birds. You have captured great detail in nice light and with a nice BG. These guys are not easy to expose properly (IMO) and I often blow out or at least burn the yellows. While this may be the proverbial "bird on a stick", because of the difficulty in getting these guys out in the open I think it is a memorable shot. Out here, in California, the early spring is the only time you have a chance with these guys-they are often up and singing staking out their territories for the upcoming nesting season.

    Lovely shot and a colour coordinated background too! I really like the position of the feet on the stem.

    Hey Joe,

    This is one of your best ever images. I love the bird, the head angle, the soft light, and especially the background. I'd love to see a pano crop from the top edge of the stalk in the ULC.
