    Default Tricolored Heron

A cheap shot since this bird was standing on a wooden railing at a preserve in Delray Beach (Green Cay).

I would have like to get higher to get more of those beautifully-layered neck feathers, but I was already on my tip-toes!
    Happy with the result regardless.

Nice work, Dorian. The portrait looks really good. Colors, detail, and background really nice. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Dorian ... super portrait of this Heron .
The open beak and the visible tongue is a nice bonus . That does look gorgeous .
Nice details and sharpness , colors looking good as well . BG too sterile for my taste .. at least some light mottled areas would I prefer , just matter of taste .
Wondering that you accepted the sharpness fall off in the beak ... ....

I especially like the colours on the bird....They contrast so well....Nice pose and detail throughout....All works well for me.

Thank you all for the kind words. And yeah, I kinda agree about the background; it would be nice to have at least some texture. Sun was filtered by high cloud, so contrast was lacking.

Pretty much perfect for me, spot on head angle and an interest with the open bill, Maybe a bit of BG difference would have been nicer but not a deal breaker for me

Looks excellent to me as well - super nice feather texture and details. Open bill adds interest. That little tongue is too funny :-) I personally have no issue with BG, but I can understand the "wants" for more variance back there.
