Here's another Osprey with fish shot from a recent outing. I'm ok with the wing positions here, but I know others prefer both fully up. A bland sky but it is what it is. Cheers.

good pose for subject and prey, exposure looks spot on, the eye is sharp = pretty good to me!

This is really sweet! Head angle, open beak, and prey are all perfect. As to the wing angle, it too is perfect under the overcast circumstances because the underwings are evenly lit. In bright sun it's necessary to have the wings fully up or down to avoid shadows and/or underexposure. I don't mind the gray sky one bit when everything else comes together as well it is does here. I do think you have the headroom to brighten the image. I think it would help it crack even more than it already does. Bravo!

Hi Paul i would be more than happy with the poseof the bird ....
I do like it overall , fish clearly visible and the slight head turn is about perfect for me ... not to forget the screaming .
Sky is what it is ... but you have experience to play tricks with it .... i think it is not perfect but ok .
I am with Dorian about overall brightness ... can go up .

    Very nice image

    Thank you Andreas.
Dorian/Andreas: I had a go at increasing the brightness, and yes it does look better, but in doing so the sky is almost white, so I'm undecided here. Of course I could just lighten the bird and leave the sky untouched or vice versa.

Hi Paul, really nice image of the Osprey with the fish. I agree with the previous comments regarding exposure. I think you use ACR/Lightroom if so I would select to mask only the subject and work on that, or using the brush to mask selected areas to work on. Thank you for sharing.

very nicer Paul, like this one much better, I don';t mind the BG, you have some soft tines there. open beak and fish's head both add to it. I'd brighten it a tad and also reduce the subtle magenta cast by warming it a bit

    details and tech look good

Thanks Arash. Would you brighten the whole image or just the Osprey?

The shadows slider in LR should do you well here IMO, and it will not affect the sky. Great subject, with a super view of the talons gripping the fish. Very nice.
