Plenty of Osprey action this past few weeks. Here's one I like...many others I've taken have the Osprey closer but with plain whitish backgrounds.

The bird is good -- more on it in a minute -- but I think the negative space makes this frame; the green is a nice anchor, and the wispy clouds add texture to what would otherwise be a dull blue sky.
That said, the bird is missing something because it doesn't immediately demand my attention in the wide surrounds, even with the direct eye contact. I think the flat light has something to do with it, but that circumstance allowed
relatively even lighting on the underside of the overhead subject. I dunno, maybe bump the exposure a bit? It just needs a little 'oomph' even if I'm not sure where to get/find it!
lol...thanks Dorian...I get you here, but admit that for me the bird does get my attention, but concede that for some it might be that the BG and bird compete with each other. Cheers.

Nice shot Paul I like the background. I would suggest increase exposure slightly o the subject and reduce exposure slightly on the sky, this really makes the bird pop.
The bird and BG elements are all perfectly placed in the frame - excellent composition. A pretty sweet frame made all the more interesting due to the caught fish.
Well captured Paul.....All fits nicely....If the darker blues above the 'trees' on the BG is water I would rotate the image....

I like the whole fish with its head intact, if mine I'd crop it tighter...in a perfect world the wings would have been all the way up but this is a good shot, shame on the missing tail feathers...

Thanks everyone for your valued feedback...it's much appreciated.
Jonathan: will try that, cheers.
Will: good point. Yes, it's water so will try the rotation. Cheers.
