    Here's one from Monterey, CA. It's a European Starling in winter plumage, and the photograph was taken in the early morning. I've no idea what the perch is but I like it.



    Canon 1D Mark III, 700mm, f/7.1, 1/400, ISO 400, no flash, monopod

    Sweet light Doug love the details captured in this Starling really shows off the nice pattern on this bird.....

    A really nice image Doug, the BG compliments the bird. Very fine detail.

    Nice job with this one Doug! I have to say these birds can look really pretty in the right light. Most people don't give them a second look but I like them as well.

    I like that perch also!

    Hey Doug, although I love this image I feel not enough of the perch is showing. I like the glance the starling is giving back towards you :-)

    You've captured some nice subtle color and detail in this image, Doug. Only suggestion I would have is perhaps a tad more room in the rear.

    Superb starling with a light too good to be true and the subject is in such a perfect plumage condition that he looks like a profesional starling model :D

    They may not be popular but they certainly look beautiful. I like the light, details and eye contact and only wish for a lower angle.
