    Default Sunset Sanderling

This is my last frame from 2022. It was captured in Port Aransas, Texas on December 11.

Shot directly into the light as the sun set through backing fog, it is a big departure from my usual, front lit style.

I will be very curious to hear what people think about it.

I have tried these a lot, they never work and yours doesn't.

Hi Dorian ... nicely done with the typical super low shooting angle and the orange sunset is just gorgeous .
Pose is nice and the overall comp as well .
Just the Sanderling is a bit flat and too cold for my taste .

Just two tweaks and layers for the RP , one for tone and one for color on the subject .

Beautiful light. No sure what to think. My first inclination was that the bird is a little too dark....but it is backlighted after all.

Thank you for the feedback. Andreas, I agree my bird looks flat compared to like your repost. I was able to generate this updated version using your repost a loose guide. Cheers.

    Looks better to me ...
After reading Jack´s thoughts , i think he is " correct" .... it is backlit afterall .
As a consequence i might go really dark within the subject and push the FG/BG harder in terms of color and tone.

    Cheers Andreas
