Nicely processed good details and as you say very eye catching colours. i don't find anything wrong or undesirable in posting common subjects - especially if there is some kind of unusual presentation..... this image falls into that scenario for me.

Just as with Jonathan's image above yours, my only issue is the crop. There's no room above or in front of the bird's head; we can't imagine where he's going as a result. I'd move him down and right. You could also loosen crop since this shot
is more about the surrounding than the subject.

Very nice Andreas....Love the colours throughout with good detail on the blacks and the whites on the bill....I agree with Dorian on the crop...More 'golds' in the frame with less 'blues' would strengthen the image IMO....

Yep, the comp is the main issue here for me. Otherwise very nice with the subject and colours. The distorted reflected eye due to the water is a bit distracting to me - any other similar frames where it is less pronounced?

Andreas, this has some pretty magnificent colors. Wow!

You controlled the darks and whites well, that looks challenging haha. Nice little head turn too.

Crop comments have been made and I do agree. Taking some off down and right would really make this one.

    TFS.
