It's been a drenching soggy west coast winter and not many ducks but I did get

That is one beautiful photo Dan. What wonderful water.
Exposure near spot on showing fine detail. Love the bow wave.
My only minor nits are beak tip could do with another round of sharpening and a bit tight in the frame left and bottom, but maybe FF?

This is marvellous .I have never seen this duck nor a foreground and background like this. Can you explain the process which gave you this result .And the water conditions behind the bird if you don't mind.Great. TFS

Yeah, that water is phenomenal. And this is a rare example where getting lower would NOT have helped as you would have lost the texture on the water and the reflection. So well done on that front.

Unfortunately, it looks like you overexposed at capture and grayed the whites in trying to recover them in post. I would have been at 1/3200 (or even 1/4000) at ISO 400 and recovered from there.
This bird is a nightmare in full sun as its hard to both expose the whites correctly and get detail/iridescence in the blacks.

The water texture and colours are the main stars here! So cool. Yes to the whites seemingly greyed. Some of the blacks looking a bit hazy. Good head angle, and I like the water beads on the body.

Agree with others. Love the water color and great to see the iridescent feathers, but it does appear to be a bit overexposed.
