Hi folks ... again something from my archive in 2022 .
Location is local town lake and the lighting wasn´t great , dreary overcast day with ugly water color .... just reflecting the truth . But it was enough light as the cloud cover was thin
But i got decently close to this handsome chick .... one can discuss the wing pose , but that was the best one of that burst

    EOS R3
    RF 100 - 500 IS L at 500 mm
    HH

    F 7,1 ; Iso 1000 ; 1/2500 sec

Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2023 , had to remove a Moorhen very close to the chick on RHS ; cropped to about 65 % of FF

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting

    Cheers Andreas

Like this a lot, lovely fine details and the water droplets on the chest just elevates the capture.

Exposure and detail are fantastic. Flat light really helped you on that front. That zoom is really working for you. I'd only ask for a bit more head turn, but that's so minor as to be ignored in the context of the full-extension flap.

The subject looks great! Nice wing flap indeed. Water could be better, but that was what you had, but I do like the in-focus part of it near the grebe. I'm not familiar much with this species, but feel adding a couple of points of saturation to it would nicely punch it up some.

Nice pose and timing on this one! Love the low POV as well. I wish also for a touch more head turn, but it really is minor. Nicely done Andreas!

Andreas, super clean shot and great wing action.

You have obtained some pure detail that's for sure. Looking forward to shooting some Grebes this year myself!

Would have been nice to have a bit of head turn but I've tried talking to these fellas and they just don't listen :-p Perhaps could brush in a touch of darker tones in the flanks and shoulders if you wanted.

    TFS
