    Default Greater Flamingo (Namibia)

Another frame from Walvis Bay. It took a lot of crawling to get close to this group of birds, and just as long for one bird to peel away and turn towards me.

Was able to get the TC off while lying prone in the mud. I rested on my upper back while I captured this frame. Reattached afterwards, like a boss.

Almost full frame. Dark-ish stripe in background is a low and distant island.

Fabulous shot, I guess the only difficulty is the the almost eyeless face, struggling for eye contact. Difficult with that white eye.
Your anecdote does sound comical and very zen as written, as if you took the shot upside down!
And did you or did you not use the TC? Or was it resting on your upper back- I think so. Brilliant!

Nothing I can do about the huge bird and small/light eye save for cropping in closer.....

Classic image Dorian! It seems you are becoming an export in leopard crawling - I haven't done that much crawling since I did my military service in the eighties ! The eye does not bother me at all, because that is what the species is supposed to look like.

Hi Dorian ... another fine shot of this elegant birds , regardles of the species .
I do like the simplicity and the lifted foot .
I would like to see a bit more room at the foot , as i think it needs more for the virtual foot that is hidden in the water .
I too would like to see more eye ... check the red RGB channel almost no detail visible in the bright parts .
So i tricked a bit with blending the green channel twice into the red one .... et voila ... there is something to see . I darkended the pupil a touch as well ... i mkight have gone too far on the low res file .

    WDYT ?

Nice image Dorian, clean and simple, I think having the faint island in the BKG work/helps and the tip of the toe just hitting the water is cool.

Andreas's RP is an improvement, but there is more you can still extract even from the OP & subsequent RP. This is where Dorian just having some basic understanding of PS helps.

Andreas - I really like what you did; subtle but effective. I was able to generate something similar in LR using your image as a template. I'm sure my solution wasn't as elegant, but it got me there. Cheers!
