Very simple, but affective Jon, the rich, darks of the Crow juxtapose to the sand works, a killer backdrop. The blades of grasses/shrubbery stems are different, albeit one has 'essence of crow' in it from cloning. Yes, the tail is clipped and in the face you could tweak it, but I think you did remarkably well in retaining the depth of detail in the overall plumage, nice sheen it and the slight hint of blue also works too. Just wonder if there is another alternative to the crop????

Has the newsboy arrived yet, bet you are like a Cat on a hot tin roof?

I am not seeing any issues with cloning Steve.

Thanks for clarifying it Jon, easier when you can talk, but it does look odd, as you say... perhaps fire damage, but only that blade???? BTW don't forget to tweak the Red Channel.

Hi Jon ... looks very nice to me , you did a great job in the subject regarding tones, colors and sharpness / details .
Personally i would prefer a slightly " mottled " BG , but that is just me . Would not see it as a shortcomoing or issue .

Nicely processed and the head turn is taking this up a notch .

Ooohh, I like this lots! Unusual perch for a crow, and it works really well. Nice light, BG, details, perfect head angle. I'd probably remove the bright very thin twig pointing up and almost touching the tail - for some reason my eye keeps going to it. But overall a very appealing image here Jon!

Thanks everyone, glad you liked it.
Andreas, I don't like the bland/featureless background either, a hint of ripples in the sand would have been good.

Hi Jon, nice work. Wonderful image of a crow, as Dan wrote quite a unusual perch for a crow. All looks good to me, thank you for sharing.
