    Default Cape Rockjumper (South Africa)

This female wouldn't come close, but I'm hella stoked with this result because of the frame which the rocks lend. Don't miss the tip of the tail. Not one bit.

This species is endemic to South Africa, and it's experienced precipitous declines in the last few decades. I needed to scramble up a steep slope to get this
frame, so yeah, not an easy or cheap shot.

Dorian, man I must say that whatever the opportunity cost was during the climb.... it had to be worth it.

Just a fabulous shot. The background is to die for and as mentioned, the diagonal effect of the rocks is so nice.

Beautiful composition with a stunningly sharp and well-presented subject. Well done!

Nice species Dorian and the colourful backdrop helps to separate the subject nicely.

Sadly I do miss the tail, especially as you have the complete subject to view. The FG rock is a bit hefty and dominates the subject for me, I might look at cropping some of it to reduce the size, albeit you don't say how big a crop this is so not sure on IQ? The finer detail does appear a tad coarse, at ISO 1600 it should rock with cleaner lines, especially as you are square on to the sensor.

Glad the SA trip has provided a good source of material.

Hi Dorian, lovely color palette, the background is so special. Beautiful bird I am not familiar with. Techs look good, it is unfortunate that the tail is hidden by the rock perch. Thank you for sharing.
