    Default Bullfinch

A male Bullfinch that took up residency in the garden with his young lady earlier this year, was hoping to get out this week with the snow, but duties call unfortunately.

They have such a lovely pale salmon chest, but the trick is not to let the black fill in around the nose/eye.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

Hi Steve, lovely work showing the bird, colors, detail beautiful. I am kind of torn whether I wish the whole perch to be in focus, not sure. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Steve ... the Bully looks gorgeous
The perch has not the level of quality in terms of attraction .... but i would take it as is .
LOvely processing and top detail / sharpness . WB looks easy business ........ even with the R5

Super shot Steve, the belly looks great, this is the colouration that is perhaps a little more typical of the Bullfinches up north, like everything, though as with the squirrel I wonder if f8 would have been ideal.

Hi Joe, thanks for your thoughts.

Andreas, this the fifth version, each time I was hyper critical of the pink, they do vary, but it's so hard to get shall we say, the 'optimum' colour.

No problem with the R5 and delivery of colour, super happy and if you get the chancre to shoot below ISO1000 bingo, super clean files, razor sharp, mountains of detail, just gorgeous!

Jon I will take that all day. DoF yes perhaps.

Bird looks great - very engaging and sharp. Cut perch isn't ideal, but it's sufficiently weathered that it's passable. Would be nice to have a bit more of it in focus as Joe said.

There is a fair bit of posterization in the BG, specifically to the left of the subject.

    Was a set-up/lure or fortuitous?

I agree the bird looks fantastic! I wish it was a different perch, but we can't decide where the bird lands unless it is a setup. I also see a lot of posterization in the BG. I looked on two devices and see it one both.

    Thanks folks.

Re the slight posterisation, when viewed at true size 1920px (4.8 inches) it's not there, nor on the hi res Master file, plus when printed out 16x24 it's not there either so I guess it comes down to the upload/any compression, but thank you for highlighting it.
