    Default Roe Deer

Finally managed to get out early one morning last week and tried for the Roe deer, about a 5 min drive from the house on the same location as the Little Owls I used to photograph. There is about nine deer which cover around 6 acres, but they have some favourite spots so it's pot luck. Perhaps not the wisest of choices wandering around in a full Ghillie suit as the land also allows game bird shooting, however I did get the day right.

Caught this one as it was passing by, it knew something was there but couldn't quite work out what until as she moved round the wind changed and she caught my scent and then bolted.

Thanks to those who posted or viewed on the last posting.

Attentive subject looks great, but the combination of side lighting and bold stripes behind the face make for a muddled message. Wet grass is a nice touch, and you managed some nice detail on the shaded side of the animal.

Hi Steve. Nice alert pose of the subject, the raised foot, the large ears and eye contact are nice. Good details and side light sets a nice mood to the image.

Hi Steve ... love the pose and the strong side lighting !!!
Well controlled highs and lows .... with fine details across the board .
Am 50/50 on the tree in ULC ... but as this is part of the landscape i would leave it in , no need for total perfection all times . Have you tried to kneel down ??

Would love to see you wandering around in such suite ... and then a dog comes a long , looking for something to leave his markings .....

So finally you have used the 100 - 500 , hope you are satisfied as i am with that glass .

    Cool shot and TFS Andreas

Super pose especially with the raised foot. Details in the coat are super. You got the shot well done, I am not a great fan of the stripy field maybe you could have minimised this but I suspect you wished to show mastery of the current lighting conditions.

A very good evening to you dear Steve and Wildlife Forum Friends,

This thread has been great fun to view, especially seeing the Master so well camouflaged, very impressive and super cute too!!!

Bokkie well exposed despite some tough lighting conditions, super pose from the subject and some great colours. Framing is spot-on.

Would love to borrow your suit but it's just too hot around here this time of the year... I just have one question, what colour socks were you wearing?

Really enjoyed this Steve, aaaargh I think you're so cool

Have a lovely week-end... I'll be in touch soon,

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks Gabriela, yes I think its nice occasionally to have some light humoured banta, otherwise things get sterile.

Not sure it's a wise choice for Africa, it's a great mesh suit in two parts jacket & pants, with gloves, the headdress it perhaps the less attractive element. Regarding 'socks' that is Andreas department and I'm sure he could guide you through the various options from 100% Black, various shades of grey to White, however I understand the most popular is the 50% grey pair...

LOOOOOOOOL .... great fun in this thread , more of that ....

Suits you well Steve ... the Ghillie suite , you and the sunglasses , reminds of " Bee Maya and Puck the housefly " .

And yes indeed i am the REAL SPECIAL AGENT of socks , regardless of which coloration .

Thanks for showing your outfit , i am impressed .... looks like a little bit of hazzle to sort this all out .

    Cheers Andreas
