Aaaargh it's too cute, Andreas. Such a tiny chap, well seen and captured. Stands out quite nicely against the smooth BG and there's some lovely detail on those little spikes. Techs look great.

I like the details on the face ( eye and muzzle) as well as those small feet. The two bright grasses on the RHS a bit distracting , perhaps you could tame them a little. Overall a very nice image well processed, super special subject - enjoyed viewing

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

What a gem! These little chaps are rapidly becoming an endangered species in UK, the main reason being habitat loss and traffic. Details as I might expect are excellent, colours - even the greens look good. I may be tempted to lower the brightness on the dry twigs/grasses by the rear foot.

Nice to see a different species Andreas, but didn't you post a hedgehog a while back?

Everything looks good, just surprised to see this one out in the daytime, as they are nocturnal, they should also be in/close to, hibernating. The only time I have seen one in broad daylight was a rather sick one that I took to the Vets.

Thanks folks for your commenst much appreciated .

@ Gabriela ... i am ok with the stems do not see the need to remove them .

@ Jon ... i could lower the brightness of the stems but did not see the need of it when processed this image . You and your affinity of my greens ... .... keep comenting on them , maybe you are hypersensitive on that specific color

@ Steve ... it is the same specimen as posted previously , not sure why this one was moving around in the afternoon of that day .... it was the 15th of september , not close to hibernation . Maybe he was not 100 % fit .... but i couldn´t look inside of his body , from the outside he looked ok .

    Thanks again Andreas

This guy is so cute! Love the detail and tender expression. Would love a bit more DOF across the quills on the back, but that's really minor and you were already up against it with light. You must have been really close if you couldn't get the whole animal in focus at f/8! Love the composition.
