    Default Great Crested Grebe Chick

Hi folks ... just one from the summer at local lake .
Just got lucky that the Grebes came close to lake shore for some images , wish i had used the flip screen of the R3 for a lower POV ... but it was quite uncomfortable at that location and i was still struggling with my body at that time to go low .

    Canon EOS R3
    RF 100 - 500 IS L at 500 mm
    HH

    F 9 ; Iso 1250 ; 1/3200 sec ... was hoping for flight action of other birds

Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2023 ; cropped and leveled to 70 % of FF

THanks for looking and commenting to my last postings

    Cheers Andreas

Very cool shot Andreas! Nice feather detail and colours. Good low angle and solid techs.

Hi Andreas, nice image so different from the Pied-billed Grebe I see hare often (will post one soon). At first look at the image I wondered about the white patch on the head, I am sure it is natural but it appears different than the other feathers. Processing looks spot on, thank you for sharing.

Thanks folks for your comments , much appreciated .

@ Joe - the white patch in the face is normal

@ Arthur - as said in the intro , i cropped it mainly as i had the image not leveled during the exposure . It is about 70 % of the FF

    Hi Andreas,

Congrats on the detail on the bird. I love the neck part. That part of the eye is distracting, but it's natural.

Thanks for your comment Volkan .... not sure , why you think the white patch is distracting as the white patch is there in every chick of this species ???!!!

    hello Andreas,
I know the importance of detail, texture and presentation for you. I thought it would be more understandable to show by drawing instead of writing. There are too many mistranslations in the translation. There is something inconsistent where I drew it. Could be cloning, arrow directions have top to bottom slope, what is this? There is a blurry effect in the front of the eye, it looks like a false stamp, but I believe it is not, I see it naturally. As natural as I see it, it's distracting. I would like to see the raw version of the photo. My views may be wrong :) You have to look at the original.

    Thanks for the drawing ....
The inconsistent parts that you marked are untouched from my side , no idea what you are seeing ..... but you will find no clone markings .
And even more no idea .... why you call a natural white feather patch on that bird a " false stamp " .
Sorry but can´t follow your reservations .

Just google " great crested grebe " chick ... to see how they look like .

    Thanks Andreas

Hi Andreas, Google translates it as this:

    what,
I didn't understand what you meant when you said reservation. I wrote what my eyes saw. I didn't say there is this, there is this. Here are some things that caught my attention, I said I could be wrong. anyway
