Paul, a very simple image. The high key effect feels a bit washed out in terms of color but that is how these shorebird images come across sometimes - in sort of a sepia feel.
The head is certainly sharp and in plane. It's sort of odd how the chest seems to fall out of plane, yet the rump appears in focus.
Overall, it feels like you had some room on exposure on the subject at a glance, although I did not pull into PS to assess. At least some selective dodging on the head, chest and neck might help.
You might also consider a touch more noise attention as it feels a bit grainy in the legs and beak.

Thanks Brian. Will look into your suggestions. Cheers.

Nice low view - my kinda frame! Detail on the bird is decent, but the lighting s tough here; these winter plumage shorebirds really need light to crack. You did get some nice detail on the legs and body, and the curious lean-in
is nice as well. Eye contact is as good as it gets. Agree with Brian about the additional NR.
