Red-bellied Woodpecker (f) on Euonymus twig a little small for the bird, as she found out. Near my backyard feeders.

The background looks pretty clean but I feel the detail in the bird's plumage has been compromised by the high ISO. Having said that I think this is an eye catching image.

Hi Bill a very nice and cool shot with a great individual posing of the subject .
Love the color contrast ... just think the WP is not that much blue in real life , but i might be wrong ??!!
I do agree with the shortcomings raised by Jon ... maybe a larger crop ??

Hi Bill, apt title as the bird appears struggling to hold onto the branch. I agree with the previous comments regarding that the bird appears too blue and the image compromised by the high ISO. I love the colors of the bird, leaves and background. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks guys. Certainly an ISO that high involves some compromises. (I was set to try and capture small birds in flight.) Good call on the color balance. Here's a repost with some correction to the blue level. The white spots on the primaries are now pretty close to neutral.
