Hi Jon, I really like this image. Interesting bird I have not seen before, feather detail, composition and complimenting background all look good. Thank you for sharing.

I really like this. The earthy tones, vertical comp, low angle, overall IQ all make this one a winner in my books.

The detail on the bird really comes out and amazed at how well the background colors match the bird. How did you get so low from the window? Wonderful image all the way. TFS

A really nice frame Jon. It has a drama to it that really works.

Was this just a straight 1DX, like super old school or a later model of it? The IQ is really sweet. Tones look great.

Also, how tall is this subject in real life?

Only small nit is you might be able to clean up the mask between the head feathers and shoulders as well as below the chin as it's a good bit brighter in the bkg in those areas.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. The angle was fortuitous, I can't remember the circumstance. Camera was canon 1DX Mk1, subject I would guess about 18" tall.

Hi Jon ... a nice clean shot of the Hammerkop .
Love the super bokeh and the overall IQ in terms of detail and sharpness in the subject .
Personally i think the overall image is more on the darker side and there is not much separation subject and surroundings , which i would prefer . If i recall correctly from sightings the Hammerkop does have a darker plumage , but this might vary . The bill is more on the cooler side of colors ....
I would go for a classical 3x2 crop with the 1Dx ... not sure why you went with the Olympus crop , as theer is too much space above , IMHO.

Still a very nice capture , nicely done

    TFS Andreas
