    Default Cape Francolin (South Africa)

Still wading through shots from my summer trip. Here's a Cape Francolin. I wish I had a better view to the red legs, but I can't pass up the view to the chevron plumage!

This was taken at Table Mountain NP outside Cape Town, where my wife and I were attacked by a troupe of baboons shorty after capturing this frame. My camera survived,
but I badly bloodied both legs in recovering my wife's purse after a huge male climbed into our rental car and tried to run off with it! The battle culminated when I slammed a
50-gallon metal trashcan on the animal's head; only then did it relinquish the purse. It was like something out of a movie. Three months later, I still have a huge welt on my
knee where I smashed it on rock.

Processed in LR CC and Topaz DN. Cloned a few distracting patches in fore- and backgrounds.

A video of that would have broken the internet!! Nice bird too such intricate feather patterning and detail.
I'm curious how the dof strip is not square to the image.

But, hey, you got the shot! Anything for the art. Love that plumage. To my eyes it is almost on the edge of over-sharpening, which I'm sure you did to bring out that wonderful pattern.

Looks good here Dorian....Almost 3D looking....Nice POV with great detail on the bird....If anything, I may try reducing the greens/yellows on the BG slightly....

Ooops **** story behind this image .... be aware of those crazy Baboons whenever staying in Africa .
Luckily i have never seriously attacked by those guys !!! Just stole some food ...

Image looks good overall , super plumage details .... sharpness is on the edge of overdone , IMHO.
Colors looking nice and realistic to me under warm late light .

    Nice one and TFS

I would go with Colin about the DOF line .... ??!!

Good eye! I never noticed the odd angle! Here is the entirely unedited frame so you can see what's going on!

Aha! What I suspected, slightly sloping ground. Thanks.
