I like the pose, the branch unfortunately partly obscures the subject. Background looks fine. My only reservation is the dark plumage, most has no detail at all. I would suggest go back to ACR, load a linear profile for your camera, this will be flat as a pancake, then gradually build up the image as you see fit. If you have not tried linear profiles they take some getting used to, at first you may think not for you but I think worth trying out.
Thanks Jon, interesting, hadn't come across that before. In this case it kept blowing the whites so I selectively lifted the darker areas.
Hi Colin very nice pose of the Kookaburra with open beak ....
Comp is nice and the " ruffled " look is very appealing to me .
I do not mind the perch ... only thing that is a real issue for me are the blocked shadows in both versions .
Easy to proof when looking at the histogram ... if one does not see it in the browser .
Colors are matter of taste ... will leave that too you . Just think it does carry a magenta cast , you might like that .

Great calling pose.....I think the bird needs more room all around....The good detail is almost there, with less cropping it would look even better....

Hi Colin, no idea what you did in the conversion, but imported it into Lr, eradicated the heavy Black/Contrast and clipped shadows and exported for web, you have it all there.
