I was sitting on a bench near the edge of the lake watching and photographing ducks when this bird surfaced with a fish, flipping it to position the head and fins for swallowing. Hey Joe, Nice one. The fish and the face look fine, the neck feathers look a bit grungy. I am a bit confused by part of the EXIF -- was this photographed at the metered exposure?

Hi Artie, thank you for viewing and commenting. Yes, this was the metered exposure. I was photographing tight shots of brown ducks (female mallards) with grass as a background. I happened to glance towards the water and saw this bird pop up with the fish. Not really time to do anything but acquire focus and fire a burst. It seemed like a second after this image the fish was down the birds throat. I have images that were part of this burst. I revisited the image, here is a repost with better processing of the neck feathers (less sharpened and grungy).

Thanks, Joe. The neck does look better. How badly was the raw file under-exposed? Consider sending me the raw file via a large files ended to satisfy my curiosity.
