    Default Lucifer Hummingbird

Finally back out in the field shooting hummers for late migration. This is a Lucifer's Hummingbird only found in a specific area of southern Arizona. Photo was achieved using a feeder to attract the bird and then a clipped flower attached to the shepherd's hook. Natural BG and light. I was very happy to get this. The last two years the Lucifer wouldn't hit the flower. This time he hit it many times. I have a pose I like better which I sill post later. I like this one better because the gorget is lit up.

Hi Kurt, really nice image. I do not see anything to change that would improve the image. Beautiful colors, wonderful feather detail, pure background. Thank you for sharing.

This is fantastic. I cannot remember an image of yours I've liked more than this one, especially as LUHU is a sought-after species in SE AZ. Set-up shots need to be perfect -- I mean they better be when the photographer has control of everything, right? -- and I don't think you could have done better here. Color, BG, pose, detail, and composition are all outstanding. Incredible result for a zoom lens with a TC!

A real beauty Kurt. Truly, gorgeous pose and colors. Captured and processed nicely!

Sure wish I could have made it down there this year. How was the turnout as far as quantity and variety this year?

The bird is fabulous. The blossom? Not so much. Sharp, great pose and exposure. Wish it were mine.
