    I shot this at Pinecrest Gardens with my Canon 40D on tripod, ISO 200 F/11.0, 1/3 sec, EF 70-200mm F/2.8 lens, 200mm, Pattern metering, Auto WB, Auto Exposure

    Good re post Richard !!! What happened?

    I like your thinking here a lot Would need less elements to really make it work Maybe more spacing and less stalks? ....but do like the basic idea to sandwich the flower !!!!

    Thanks guys, I see what you're saying and agree. Have been learning to move interfering items away from subject. This particular one was unaccessible.

    Nice composition Richard,
    On the repost, I would tone down the reds just a tad...I like the composition...On your next one, try to capture the edges of the red leaves at a 25 - 30 degree angle; up close and in your face type of thing and see what comes out. I think you might like it...:)

    I like the framing and the peeking. What bugs me are the three bright highlights...Two on the left-most branch and the one on the right frame edge. All would be easy to remove, most easily with a QM.

    Thanks everyone for your comments. Being about 25 feet off the path with no access didn't allow the shot i would have liked. Gus, when you say 25 to 30 degrees do you mean at an angle to the leaf itself?

    i know exactly where you were standing!! saw the same one last week. i tried and was unsuccesful. you did well with what you had. i just wish that middle stalk was not there. maybe next time we can take some pruners:D:D
