She's jumping out the monitor.....I like the DOF... shows something different....You must have been real close.....I think I would remove the twig the bird is staring towards...

Geez Andreas, this cutie was, "All up in your grill" as we say here in the states (means it was super up close and personal).
While f12 or 14 probably wouldn't have allowed the feet and blooms to be in focus, it sure would have been nice. Light angle could maybe improve slightly, but man, what a super look at the eye/head detail!
As Will stated, you must have been right on top of the subject, creating an almost 'in your face' POV, different to the normally images you post with room to breathe. The stems (Hydrangea?) almost frame the subject and the solid backdrop keeps everything simple with no distraction. Slight head turn would be nice.

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
A fine shot Andreas, super sharp, the processing is superb. I don't know if you are likely to be repeating these photographic sessions but if you are I would suggest the 1.4TC may be a consideration, you would get a little more DOF is what I am thinking.
Nice shot of this little bird, love the colours on these. He fits in well on the perch, just a shame he's off centre - a little further to the left wold have been ideal with more negative space to the right

@ Brian ... stopping down might have helped for more DOF , but nothing would have included the tail .
