First touch of the Transfer?

The female Black Shouldered Kite tried to steal the mouse from the male above who objected. This is her first touch which came to a contest when she finally got hold of this mouse [a feral animal in Australia] in both claws. Dont like these dull days as you hardly ever are in the right place at the right time. As the young have now fledged ,may get another chance.

what a cool capture of the action , well done in getting this ... Ian .
might be a large crop , as I think the shown details are not really fine ... at least to my eyes , but you might be happy with it .

I agree that its probably not your best shot technically, but sometimes the action itself can be enough to make it a keeper. Thats certainly how I would feel in this circumstance, a really well timed shot

this is a tough shot to get with both sharp and in plane of focus I like that we can see the prey. the quality has taken a hit from too much cropping. For a shot like this your really need 1200mm (600 + 2x TC). the similar species here (white-tailed kite) is pretty much impossible to photograph at 600mm unless you are inside a blind
