hi folks ... sad news about the Gannet colony on Helgoland , almost wiped out due to H5N1 virus .
When I was there in may this year all looked normal , now I see on the news the bad development in that area . After some research I found info that a lot of northern europe is affected by the disease ....
So here you go an image when all seemed to be ok , at first look .
background is the ocean at low tide

f 8 , iso 2500 , 1/2500 sec , settings ready for BIF action a bit overkill for these two

processed with capture one and pscc 2022 , slight crop , removed a bird from lrc

thanx for watching and commenting to my latest threads

It is a similar story around the UK coasts too Andreas, sad news indeed.
It looks like the bird doing the scratching has got the right spot! Details and colours very good, I like to se the detail in the eyes and it is there. Composition looks fine to me - pleasing image.

Very nice...Just look at the tenderness of that guillotine bill, used with precise tenderness to preen his/her mate.....A very precious moment captured....Well done Andreas...colours are pleasing....

Unfortunately the Bass Rock....biggest gannetry on the planet.....has also been hit hard with the flu.....they will be flying off soon to Africa and Brazil.......that's my worry....carrying it with them....

What a lovely and tender allopreening image, with sharp detail right at the critical point. Beautiful colors. A very sad story indeed.
