Managed quite a few shots of this Welcome Swallow recently, so thought I'd try a close up for a change. Basic adjustments in ACR and PS+ removed a second catch light.

That's about as close to a swallow I have ever been! Colours look good, the darkest plumage is just a little muddy.

Very nice up close portrait Paul! I like the detail and head turn. Darks look good on my monitor as well.

hi Paul ... pretty impressive tight head portrait of this nice species . how much of a crop ?
all looks good to me in terms of color and tones ...darks looking good to me as well . the visible detail in the eye is great .

I would be more careful with masking as there is a faint halo from sharpening or shadow recovery .

    Thank you Kurt and Andreas.
Andreas: Yes this is a fairly big crop, and yes I see the halo, and will go back and fix that. Cheers.
