    Joe:

Sharp, well exposed, nice transillumination of the wing feathers. Your framing works the diagonals of the image well. Eye contact helps.

    Cheers

Nicely processed and composed, just a personal opinion but not a fan of looking at the under surface of the bird.

Hi Andreas, thank you for viewing and commenting, You make me work... smiles. I think the halo is how the software transitions from a very dark area to a very light area, not sure but I think that is what is happening. I took the image into Photoshop and tried to eliminate the halo. Here is a repost.

Joe how do you get the idea , that the software is creating the halo ????? I will never get that , why folks do not see it .... to me it is so obvious and it is always a sharpening issue . it is simple ... the radius is just chosen too wide . in the end becoming amplified by any contrast enhancement .... specially when folks use 3rd party plugins and are not masking very carefully .
It is the operator ..... ALWAYS .... !!!!!
As the operator tells the software what to do

Good that I make you work ....

Hi Andreas, I disagree that those halos are a sharpening issue. First I always use a radius of 0.5 pixels to sharpen in Lightroom, so not caused by too wide a radius. When you point it out as in this image and the image of the Royal Terns the areas noted were the black legs against a very bright background, the sky in this image and the beach in the Royal Tern image. If it were sharpening then the halo would be in all parts that were sharpened. I think it is contrast related where very dark tones meet very bright tones. Here is a repost of the image the only change is that I lowered the contrast. WDYT?

Hi Joe, I am not too fond of photos showing the underside of birds. With that said, I do like the light coming through the wings, but the eye contact just isn't there for me.
