Default Misty morning blast off - Common loon-Northern Michigan

This resident adult common loon was leaving his nesting lake to go visit a larger, more productive lake a few miles away, for a quick snack and socializing before returning to take care of its juvie. It was gone 14 minutes before flying back in and tending to junior.

The day had started with dense fog on the water, and was starting to burn off when this image was taken. Still dense enough that the far shoreline was obscured, and the air had a slight blue tint to it.

    D500 500PF 1/2000s ISO 800 f/5.6. Handheld in my little loon boat.

Pano crop with normal processing in LR and PS.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Oh boy I love this so atmospheric, the mist is really intriguing, the wing positions ideal and the head is sharp. For me one of the best images I have seen this year for sure

Great take-off image! Love the slight fog, the tailing water and the reflection! Great choice to go pano here as well!
