I was walking back to my car after photographing Great Crested Grebes, when I remembered a friend telling me that Pipits had been seen on the grassy area near where my car was parked. I was lucky to see a few of them and this shot was taken seconds before it flew off. My camera settings were for the Grebes, but I'm happy with this image. Cheers.

Hi Paul, for me this one has a lot going for it. A nice composition with good subject size and positioning in the frame, good sharpness and colour on the bird and a great pose - love the raised foot which gives the impression of a little dance. Just the right depth of field too, leading into an attractive OOF background. Good one!

Hi Paul, the image looks good to me. I like the stone perch and raised leg. Reading your write up I wondered how you would have changed the settings in the camera for this image? Thank you for sharing.

Nice on the rock. Colors look great and it is sharp. I hate it when the partial raise a wing ...

Thanks so much everyone...really appreciate the feedback.
Artie: I'm fine with the wing, but I have other shots of the bird (different poses)...do you prefer all wings down?
Joseph: Probably would have gone for a slower shutter speed and lower iso, but in hindsight...although those settings worked out ok getting the bird taking off would need the higher shutter speed.
