    Default Australasian Grebe

A new location (always nice) and an Australasian Grebe that swam by a few times. This time I got down on my belly on stones, which was quite uncomfortable, but hey, that's what we do don't we? I managed to take quite a few shots with a variety of poses, but liked this face on view.

Love the feather detail, the down the barrel stare and the pop off the dark background.

Agree with David, very nice. Still a great combination the two 500's. And so light and easy to handle on your belly.!

    Dear Paul,

Love the dark background and the colour of water. As well as that bit of reflection - nice work in the field! Cute pose and I like the quizzical expression from the subject, nice detail in the feathers.
Would be delighted to see one of those grebes with little stripy babies, if you ever have the chance to photograph them

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Nice work, Paul. I like the down the barrel stare, excellent feather detail and colors. The grebe really pops against the dark background. Thank you for sharing.
