I went for an evening stroll and took my camera just in case, I didn't expect to get anything at all but I felt lucky to have gotten this image, Jays are very skittish but I managed to sneak up on this one from behind a hedge.

I love these birds, they are very smart and tricky to shoot.
I think a bit more contrast would be nice here.

Hi Jon ... nice solid image of the Jay , I do like the setting in the grass and the colorful flowers are adding nice context .
Looking at the sun lit scene i would expect a higher overall brightness , personal feeling . And the grass looks a but lifeless to me ... in terms of saturation and variants of the hues .

Detail on the bird is very good .

Hi Jon, lovely image of a jay. Feather detail and color on the bird look great. I like the setting in the grass. Thank you for sharing.

Jon, a nice environment shot. Getting those yellows and pinks is really nice.

Good pose. Biggest nit for me is the strong grass stems coming up around the head. Just a touch busy for me, but otherwise lots to like. Touch more head angle for a little catchlight would have also been sweet.
