    Default Gannet from Helgoland VIII

Hi folks ... the next one from my Gannet series .
This guy brought a gift for the waiting partner , but was struggling to find it .
Image cropped from landscape format .

    Canon EOS R3
    Ef 200 - 400 IS L at 540 mm
    HH

    F 8; Iso 800 ; 1/3200 sec ; man exp
SS was a bit of an overkill for this scene , but I was constantly expecting BIF options

Processed with DPP4 and PSCC 2022 ; cropped for comp from horizontal so it is 60% of FF

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous threads

    Cheers Andreas

A very clean and sharp image Andreas, the colours work oh so well and just add freshness.

I wonder about a tighter crop rather than having all the neck and hint of body? I think the HA needs to be slightly more towards the view, it a appears parallel, but with the depth a slight head turn may have elevated the image IMHO?

Thanks Steve ... just wanted to have a bit more torso/neck as Dan asked for more of it , in a earlier tighter portrait . I am ok with both versions . Here you about the head angle ... again i am ok with it as shot , but i am with you that slight turn would have elevated the shot .

    Cheers Andreas

Please check out my earlier posted " mirrored Gannets " , your thoughts would be appreciated . http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...m-Helgoland-Vi

OK, but there is more gorgeous detail in the bottom half, and I would open up the seaweed. Your call...

Thanks Steve for the RP .... I quite like the additional detail , but not that much let's say 50 % of it .

Both are beautiful. And sharp. Is this bird looking slightly away or am I being fooled by the shape of the bird's head and the position of the eye?
