Got this male while out with a friend last week. The dorsal view of this bird is so much better than the ventral, so I'm stoked with this pose, particularly the semi-open right wing.
I wasn't sure about the foliage/perch, but it's really grown on me (no pun intended). My initial reaction was to trash the frame since there wasn't a viable crop/composition which
preserved the full length of the leaves, but I think the frame works with bird placed where it is. I also like how we can see the tip of the right wing through the leaf.
No audio, just stalking. Flat light enabled this frame as any amount of direct illumination would have rendered the busy perch too shadowy and contrasty.
