    Default Bobolink from Indiana

Got this male while out with a friend last week. The dorsal view of this bird is so much better than the ventral, so I'm stoked with this pose, particularly the semi-open right wing.

I wasn't sure about the foliage/perch, but it's really grown on me (no pun intended). My initial reaction was to trash the frame since there wasn't a viable crop/composition which
preserved the full length of the leaves, but I think the frame works with bird placed where it is. I also like how we can see the tip of the right wing through the leaf.

No audio, just stalking. Flat light enabled this frame as any amount of direct illumination would have rendered the busy perch too shadowy and contrasty.

Processed in LR CC and Topaz. Cloned a few of the brighter spots on the face, some of which might have been raindrops on this dreary morning.

Nicely done and a good self-critique. If it were mine, I'd go with a healthy crop off our left and would clean up the few light-toned feather on the bird's face. I like the leaves in the soft light and the perfect head turn.

I like the shot as presented but the image has an overall yellow look about it to me, I would suggest checking the white balance. WDYT?

Thanks for this. White balance is the trickiest part of processing for me. Every camera body renders the colors slightly differently, and I'm still learning how Adobe plays with the R5 (not well!).
I'm also not used to shooting greens (on land) as am I blues (on water), and I have a harder time on cloudy days than sunny. So, it's always good to get other eyes on the shots to see how they look!

    Here's a repost cooled down a touch.

A Bobolink beauty. I agree about the pose: shows the best aspects of the bird with dorsal view and head turn. Tough subjects to expose correctly; the flat light really helped.
