Brian I like the bird, head and feet in good focus, the tail isn't but that doesn't matter to me - I mean if you saw the bird could you recall what was in focus?
The featureless background is exactly that, for me it does not add to the image but I understand many people have an entirely contradictory view to which they are perfectly entitled. (Again I would ask could anyone recall an entirely featureless background when looking at a subject?)

Very nice Brian......Nice pose, HA, POV and the open bill adds....Good detail on both bird and perch....I personally like the BG, with the various green colours throughout...It shows the bird well....

This is sweet. I have no shots of this bird despite how common it is! Open beak pulls our attention to the face and minimizes the OOF tail. Perch and BG are great. I knew this was w/o TC as soon as I opened it. Looks great for ISO 4000.
I really like the scales on the feet.

I love it! The title goes very well with not only the species' name, but the teasing pose offered. Great perch! I also like the BG - enough variation in tones and hues to make it work. I also have nothing on these guys, but contrary to Dorian, this is a very uncommon bird for us so I have an excuse!

This one is totally sublime. DATPCA. And yet another great title. Count me in with Dan and Dorian. This bird is abundant where I live and I've got zip on it.

    with love, artie

Hi Brian being late to the party ... so I would just say , this frame works well for me .
I have no issues with the OOF tail ...and the open beak and visible tongue are priceless good !!
