Great detail on the bird Jon, looks about as sharp as anything I've seen since you switched gear. Personally I'd have to lose the stem going into the centre of the bill.

    Did the albatross show?

Hi Jon, personally I prefer the flying Ganet, but just my take.

Not sure why you go for more above/less below on framing, but I think you can afford to tweak the crop to give the subject more presence. Sharpness for once is far better, not sure why, but perhaps you have tweaked things again, but definitely going the right direction. I would adjust the FG grass so it's less patchy ie that clump in the centre, remove the hint of grass (?) in the sea and yes, remove the grass in the front of the subject and the half leaf LHS. Yes a small amount of clean up, when when you have an image like this it's worth it and the detail is crisp. BTW check the RHS is it an item in the wind or something on the sensor?

I like the image, Jon. I think the expression on the bird is priceless, I guess involved in nest building. Thank you for sharing.

Steve's crop from above is the far stronger image. I loved Bempton.

Especially on not sunny mornings :)

Yes, Steve's crop works better. Space above is wasted on downward gaze. The face is sharp as can be, so that's great. Exposure is money. Soft colors and even lighting are very nice.

I like the behavior a lot Jon! I do like Steve's crop better though and removing of the grass by the head.
