Interesting pose. I do like the inclusion of the gannet in the background. Gives a nice sense of place.

Nice behaviours pose Jon, but the file looks thin, blacks especially grainy & coarse in the wing tips. Like the inclusion of the flying Gannet

Hi Jon, wish I had these birds nearby, quite interesting. I like the setting, the pose and the out of focus flying bird. I also think the blacks appear a tad thin. Neat image, thank you for sharing.

Lovely elegant pose from this water bird - is that a feather in its beak? Courtship display?
Great timing Jon and good techs, good composition and I too agree, the presence of the second bird in the background adds context as well as balances the frame.
Nice background and I like the rocks with those tufts of grass. Having read Steve's comment I wonder if you perhaps lifted the blacks too much on those wing tips, I can think of no other reason for the slight coarseness. Beautiful capture overall.
Warmest regards,

Hi Jon ... a good behavioral capture .
Nice setting and the second Gannet is a nice touch .
Flat light has helped with an easy exposure .
Why is " all that grain " showing up in the wings and also visible in the blue ocean at Iso 1250 ??
Still nice to see some Gannets

It was a hazy misty day I don't know how much that contributed.

Nice behavioral image Jon. I agree about the blacks. I find myself wishing he wasn't turned away from me.
