    Default Tricolored Heron

I am on a trip in south Texas right now and finally had some time to shoot a Tricolored Heron (a first for me). Only wish I was in a location where I could have managed a lower POV, but this location that was impossible.

A bold eye catching image with good detail. I like it, my only suggestion would be to address the two faint circular blobs on the RHS.

A nice looking tricolor. I like the light and that pose.

I like the walking pose Kurt, but just wished the front leg was raised further to add some trailing water, any frames further on???

To me there is some Topaz NR applied as the plumages is just smoothed out that fraction too much, Sony A1, ISO1600, leave it out, if printed you wouldn't even see any grain.

Hi Kurt ... nice one in terms of walking pose .
Light looks gorgeous as does the overall tone and color .
The HL on the leg features look close to be burned and the plumage looks quite smooth , as Steve mentioned .... I would control the level of smoothing via any NR software more critical before saving the file , just my take .

    Nice one and TFS Andreas

Sweet light here. Raised foot adds a ton of interest. Such fantastic array of colours on the lores! Perhaps a bit of DW rotation needed.

Hi Kurt, great that you were able to see and photograph a Tri-colored Heron. I love the pose of the bird with the raised leg and nice pure background. I also think the feathers appear smooth and wondered if this was a large crop. Thank you for sharing.

Good eyes,, Jon. Those may or may not be dust spots. Killer beautiful birds in high breeding plumage. Love the leg color. And of course the raised foot (that is yellow below!)

    Kurt -- where and when?
