    Default Stocking up...

This was from an encounter with Mum and two doer cubs, yes cubs! An old walrus carcass was offer a few more snaps to feed on to build up their fat supplies before winter. The light was ridiculous so saturated and warm and as the bears faced the sun, they had to close their eyes. Shot from a very bouncy and moving zodiac!!!!

    Dear Steve,

Unbelievable light here, wow. Must have been such a pleasure working on this image, for every detail is there

Super techs, good framing, the carcass...is...well...a work of art! Colours are unreal.

Beautifully exposed. A lot of blood yet it's not gory, rather arty, love the detail and colours. You never cease to surprise me

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

I agree entirely with Gabriela, a super shot packed with detail, my eyes are continually drawn to the fur.
I am guessing the two bears and choppy ocean did not play ball with you in terms of getting both faces in the frame.

    Thanks Gabriela & Jon.

In all honesty its not a 'grabbing' image, I just wanted to post something on the Forum, but appreciate the comments.

Gabriela, you ate too kind, but as I have said before, everything comes back to the raw, get that exposed & sharp, the rest is a walk in the park, probably under 15 mins to process, but just with some basic adjustments.

I am guessing the two bears and choppy ocean did not play ball with you in terms of getting both faces in the frame.
Very tricky Jon, not only bobbing about, but with a fixed lens too, so it was just all about trying to get something in the bag that was sharp and not on a wanky angle.

Hi Steve a killer image in terms of light and the control of it ....
Well processed and well done in the field to achieve the spot on sharpness under the given choppy circumstances .

But I am with you , not a grabbing image ... personally not too fuzzed about the boxy crop and the second bear hiding behind the carcass , and would have wished for a slightly better head angle .

IN the end I might have photographed the gory as well with confidence and would have loved it .... gone mad to witness this

Super image Steve -- Loved the moment , IQ. Super details .

To frame properly is a bit difficult in this instance, but you have managed a good quality image inspite of that.

    TFS !
