These guys went at it for a few minutes. Quite action, and so much fun to photograph. Most of the frames were junk of course for a variety of reasons, but a few stand-out images were to be had after all. The slope is natural - they were actually tumbling down it as they fought!

Canon R6 + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/5.6, ISO 3200, natural light, handheld, cropped for composition, some of the more distracting elements ion the dirty snow removed via clone or spot removal.

Really cool behavior Dan! It took me a minute to realize the bird on the right was upside down lol! I assume this was a territorial dispute?

    Very cool action.
Not an easy exposure sitiuation but it looks great.
I have a feeling you were hoping for a frame where eyes were visible on both birds.
My only nit is that the head of the left hand bird gets lost in the melee.
    A very fun frame!

Looks like the left one is winning. I like the action and that fact they are on snow.

You gotta love mirrorless AF and frame rate :). Snow or sand? Looks like sand to me ...

Thanks artie, and yes the mirrorless AF is miles ahead of DSLRs! This is actually snow, but the late-winter melting "granular" type.
