    Default American White Pelican

Joe P from here was good enough to keep me updated on the pelicans prior to my trip, then even came down to say hello the day I went to Lake Morton - sorry I didn't stay and chat too long Joe, but it was the only morning I had here - needed to make the most of it!

Anyway, he pointed out the solitary pelican that made it over into good light for a traditional style portrait, but after the sun came up I wandered around to the far side of the lake and took a couple of backlit shots directly into the sun. I'll post the other one soon as I can't decide between them!

    A very different portrait.
I never noticed how yellow the lores are.
The details in the whites are excellent. I would tidy up whatever is going on on the viewers RHS around the windblown feathers.A dark blob and a yellow streky area.
The yellow fringing on the sides of the bird is really neat.
    Different but I like it.

Looks pretty good though I think some feathers are blown.
Just a suggestion a little Dehaze cold enhance detail especially in the yellows.

Hi Mike, I like the tight headshot with the pouch all snuggled... I also like how the edging of the feathers on the side and atop the head are bathed in golden light. keep em coming

Different indeed, and if someone had never seen a pelican they be surprised by how large the bill is lurking under those feathers. The seemingly wind-swept head feathers add a touch of quirkiness here. Fun image.

Mike lovely. I looked at this last week and boy it sure caught my eye. A little different but oh so good. The lighting all around is so nice. TFS
