OK, so here is my effort at Big Red. Got to say I nearly posted another species after seeing those from Gail and Ann (!) Cloudy light on this day but Red was as reliable as ever

I had a great trip, so even though it was a family holiday I got to meet up with Gail and Ann at DeSoto, Artie and Anita at Gatorland (egrets to be posted from there), then Anita again for Cranes and Ospreys, and Joe P was a huge help at Lakeland - Cheers Joe, I got what I wanted for the Pelicans - they will come soon.

Joined the Sony camp, primarily for underwater reasons but aI have been a bit more that impressed with the A1 / 200-600 combo I used this day

    Sony A1
    200-600mm @ 600mm
    ISO 1600

Great pose. Your POV is so low it looks like you are looking up at him. Sounds like a great trip.

Hey Mike, thats a slam dunk keeper for you and Big Red! Super action and a lovely pleasing BG enhances the catch. Had a wonderful time shooting together and looking forward to our next outing! Keep em coming.

I bet his fish is not as good as the seafood we had at Snapper's! So nice to meet you and your family!
Nice crop and great view of the fish. Always nice to see the raised foot.
    IQ looks good ( for a Sony!!haha!)
I might level this with a slight CCW rotation.

Nice pose. a bit of noise on the bird at iso1600 is surprising.
Not really tack sharp, Fish is blown out.
A nice image that could use better PP.

Thanks everyone for commenting - Dan, not too sure what you're seeing, the eye is razor sharp and the fish only reaches 250 in the smallest bright parts, in the 240s mainly

Not bad Mike - for an ex Canon boy! Love the timing and ideal angle too.

Nice point of view on this hungry egret. Nice and sharp, and excellent vertical comp. I do see a touch of noise, especially on the wing, but not overwhelmingly.
