First time posting for a while as I have had a long illness, but thankfully now recovering.....Yesterday was my first day out, and decided to travel North onto the Glens.....I managed to capture this female Wheatear from the vehicle, drivers window with beanbag.....These birds have just arrived, after flying in from Africa, to nest here in Scotland....Cropped for comp.....This is about 70% of the original.....ACR and PS......

Pretty much an ideal Wheatear portrait Will, pose and colours very good and the environment ideal.

Glad you are coming good Will, it must have been so refreshing to get out again.
And rewarded with a great shot, perfect pose, lighting and habitat.

Hi Will, you have been missed and i am happy to hear you have recuperated and have started to shoot again. Stay strong and keep chasing the birds, best medicine! On to the wheatear: lovely pose amongst an interesting colorful background. dof at f8 gave nice details and then separation to the oof dry grasses. one suggestion is to move bird to left if you have canvas rather than middle, but not a complaint, as is is wonderful. So sorry to hear that you have been ill.
What a lovely image to show for your return.
Love the pose and the grasses framing the wheatear. I would clone out or dodge the diagonal grass to the left of the bird. Pulls my eye away.
    Nice soft diffuse light.
I think your sensor needs a bit of a clean- i see 3 or 4 dust spots!

I had no idea you were ill, hope you're over whatever it was now.

You're certainly back with a bang, this is lovely, great composition between the grasses, a great turn and the lichen makes the perch look so much better

Glad you are felling better - and glad to see you posting again too. What a great image to get the ball rolling. Because of the grasses on each side the central comp works well.
