Terrific shot, dof in just the right place capturing the near wing nicely. The overall lighting, composition and colors are lovely.

Hi Jon, well captured image. I like the colors of the bird and background. Focus appears to be on the head/eye with nice feather detail. I guess I would wish for more depth of field so the right/back wing was as sharp as the front wing but not know how close your were a smaller aperture may not have changed that significantly. Nice image, thank you for sharing.

Lovely pose Jon, could do with a bit more selective sharpening on the head I think

    Great pose.
I would sharpen the head a bit more. Do you have more of the leaves on LHS of the frame?

Nice flight shot Jon and cool to have some nesting material in the beak.

The leaves appear sharper on the LHS than the subject (but both need a hint more USM) and the BKG looks a bit posterised in parts??????

Thanks, I'll take another look, it was strong early morning side light, maybe I should have left the background a little darker (by comparison the subject was very bright).

Same issue with the Sparrow hawk, but always expose for the subject not the BKG, this is where I think some of the BKG issues may be stemming from. BTW two nice new Eizo's arriving at the end of the month.
