Another image from my back garden, I am beginning to think 1/2000 sec is going to be better than 1/1600 sec, I recall Gabriela mentioning SS a couple of posts ago. Maybe I could have addressed the darkest darks a little more, they were in comparatively deep shadow.
    All comments welcome.

Hi Jon ... a nice classical pose of this species .
    Looks like a perch from a " cherry tree " ...
All around color and tones are looking good , I just like the " intense color " presentation . Sharpness looks good for the most part .... falls off on the head , IMHO . F 5,6 not enough for this scenario ... I think you need F 8 . So I assume FP was not on the head ...
On the LHS you have some " fence like " lines ... would address those!
And maybe reducing those blues/cyans ... if being picky
What is your thinking regarding the somewhat " odd " looking comp / crop ??

In like this frame. It is a classic pose as stated of most any woodpecker species. I agree with Andreas about maybe using f/8 here.

Hi Jon, neat looking woodpecker. Good head angle, I like seeing the foot, interesting perch (over here I might think Alder), good background. I see the vertical tracks Andreas mentioned I might clean them up but depending how I feel sometimes I leave them. I like the image, thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, with regards to sharpness, you guys seem to see something I don't, maybe I could have sharpened the eye a little more but it looks sharp to me. I should kick myself regarding the fence - saw that and corrected it on a similar file and yet I posted this one..... old age is a terrible thing!
