It's almost time to make a pilgrimage two hundred miles south the the land of the Burrowing Owls. I have been reviewing last years images planning this years trip, what worked, what didn't, where was best etc.. This image is from last year in January this year the end of April or early May the owlets will be out of the nest and testing their wings. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

I like the environment here Joe, and I'm glad the shadows are not too intrusive on those eyes. Probably too early for the chicks to be out but I'm going to head down there later today

Hi Mike, I think you might do all right today, at the end of month the owlets are quite large, almost ready to fly. This image was captured in the area around the public library. Look for areas roped off with plastic flagging and a wooden cross for a perch indicating active burrows. Thank you for viewing and commenting.

Hi Joe, I like it, perhaps a sliver more below, but nice to have eye contact, and getting low is key. Nice job in not getting the grasses over the face too.
I think you may have ramped up the Vib/Sat sliders which have flooded the whole frame, so there is little definition between subject & environment, but just my take.

Hi Joe, I think it's subtle, but you were there... however one additional thought would be to brink in some blue for the sky so it's less stark? WDYT? It's via HSL just a localised adjustment in LR.

Nice frame Joe! Great job getting him in the open with no grass in his face/head. I personally like the OP to the other versions. The last looks. to have a bit of a green color cast to it.

Thanks Steve, I'll give it a try.
