Couldn't agree more Jon, but just to tight in frame for me as presented, a looser crop I think would be better.

The subject still appears soft Jon, at f/8the eye and beak should be pin sharp?????

Very cute bird and I like the take off pose, good timing Jon.

Not sure everyone will agree, but to me the little bud that has ben cut off makes the frame look even tighter.

Regarding sharpness issue, just thinking 1/2000s might not be enough in this case? Or perhaps FP is off, since the bud on the RHS looks quite sharp to me.

What lens are you getting? Hope it arrives soon and that you enjoy it

    Warmest regards,

Hi Jon ... i agree it is nice to capture this during a photo walk .
I do like action captured .
From the technical aspect i would agree with Steve and his observations .

Hope you do not have to wait too long , for the perfect lens from your POV

Thanks Steve, Gabriela Andreas, the lens I await is 150-400mm with in built 1.25TC so effectively 300-1000mm f5.6 hand holdable 1.8kg lens about the size of a 400f 5.6 zoom, focuses down to just over a metre so from dragonflies to dolphins and whales just one lens, so i reckon I will always have the "right" lens with me. It is also compatible with external 1.4 and 2.0TC so 2000mm possible but I would think the opportunities for this would be few and far between, nevertheless the choice is there.
