I finally got a good Wild Turkey in full display image - there were actually three of them doing so, but tough to isolate or get them out of the twigs. This one cooperated nicely...only to turn on me after a few minutes and proceeded to attack me for a while. In my excitement I had not noticed the females quietly slip by me and I was now between them and the males. Oops. No harm done, and actually probably rather humorous.

Canon R6 + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1600s., f/5.6, ISO 3200, full frame, hand held, a couple of distractions in the snow removed via clone/patch.

Good clear view pleasing subtle colours, I doubt you could have gotten the tail in focus at that magnification, nice image I like it.

Hi Dan, getting down low seems to be your MO.

Overall I like it and having the head to the left illustrates nicely that wizened look, just wished the file was slightly bigger ie 1600 high to appreciate the capture. Personally a sliver more to the RHS, just find it a tad tight. Love the frozen leg and clump of snow attached, however have you thought about removing the blue in the white and pulling a bit more detail out? Just a thought and the detail not a deal breaker, just think things look a bit 'crisper' in whites.

    Attached just for a comparison.

Hi Daniel what a colorful beast

All works for me and glad you survived the attack ...

Personally I would prefer a slightly wider crop , as a possible option

Works for me too Dan. What a splendid array of colours! Glad you didn't end up on the wrong side of the attack.

    Daniel:

Really nice. The snow is great. . Agree about a bit more room in the sides.

Not sure I would want to be attacked by a turkey!

    Cheers

Nice to see this drake all strutted up in the snow. Good thinking on the vertical framing. Killer detail.
